So you wanna know about me?

Alabama Women Bloggers

Linking up with a fantastic group of bloggers... Alabama Women Bloggers!  Here are the self-interview questions for June!

1. What part of the state do you call home?  I currently live in Nowhere, Alabama, somewhere along I65 close to the Tennessee  state  line, but I will always call The Shoals home. I was born there, went to high school and college there, had my first apartment & bought my first home there, and even got married there  (but left the ex there!)  Don't wanna go back except to visit  :)

2. How long have you been blogging?   Since March 30th, a  whopping 3 months!

3. Why did you start blogging? I've always wanted to document my "bad luck" events,  but thought it would be a book. Then I started reading blogs and thought that would be a great way to share my experiences!

4. What is your favorite part of being a member of the Alabama Women Bloggers community?  I love being able to find local bloggers so easily. If you make a great friend connection, you're within driving distance if you wanna grab Starbucks!

5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Done with grad school, working with a company I love, hopefully married and ready to have babies! And living who knows where!

6. If you could choose an actress to play you in your life, who would you choose and why? I don't keep up with actors/actresses that well,  but I've had people say I look like Ashley Judd and she's pretty awesome (Double Jeopardy is the shit).  I don't see it though...  what do you think?

But my life is definitely a comedy, so maybe Jenn Anniston or Jenn Garner (is Jenn a coincidence here? I think not.)

7. Name 5 things on your Bucket List that you hope you’ll check off before you die?  I don't have a "bucket list".  I just kinda live day by day.  There's a ton of places I want to visit: NYC, Vegas (again), Charleston, and Italy.  I want to retire and travel across the US in an RV with my dogs.  I would love to do something adventurous like bungee jumping or whitewater rafting or skydiving.  I also want to start my own dog rescue.
8. If you could be known for one thing, what would it be and why? Hmm.. either my brain or my heart.  I pride myself on being a smart, educated woman.  And I also have a huge heart and believe in second third chances and karma.

9. Describe the best moment in your life.  I think you're supposed to say you're wedding day, but I got a divorce. I would say the day I got divorced, but that was a very difficult time in my life. So I will say the best moments of my life are still happening. I'm in love, I just got accepted to a very selective graduate program, and my future is just beginning.

10. If you could “be” anything (no consequences, no fear), what would you “be”?  A veterinarian. That's if school or money wasn't an option. I love animals and would love to help them. But I can find other ways to help with my current career path

11. What or who inspires you to blog?  I am absolutely over the moon when my inbox gets filled with comments or new followers. I don't even know what to think. I would blog whether anyone read it or not, but the fact that people actually read it inspires me to keep doing it!!

12. We’re headed to your neck of the woods… what restaurant would you recommend? You don't want to eat in Nowhere,  Alabama. Especially not Southern Fixin' Buffet. But I would recommend Ricatoni's in the Shoals anyday.  In fact,  let's go right now!

13. What’s a southern tradition you and your family have?  My family is far from conventional and we didn't have many traditions. Plus, my dad was a northerner who didn't even like grits (blasphemy!) But me & Bobby talk about sun tea and front porch sitting all the time, so those will definitely be southern traditions we bring into our family.

14. If you could pick your favorite blog post from your blog this year, what would it be?   The Tree Stalker -  it was one of my first posts, so probably not the best written, your writing definitely evolves!, but the story cannot be made up.

15. We all love social media, tell us your links so we can follow you!   Twitter //  Pinterest // Instagram // BlogLovin

#SidebarLove {June}

I love all the bloggers that choose to hang out on my sidebar, and to show some appreciation, I want to spread some SIDEBAR LOVE!  I will attempt to do this each month, but like I posted before, I'm a bad blogger, so we shall see! Now check out some of the awesome ladies that hang out on my page!!

 Meet Casey!

Her Blog: Aslan's Auspicious Albany Adventure

Meet Ashley!

Her Blog: Tracksuit Friday
Her favorite blog post: Things I've Learned Since Turning 20
Favorite Summer Spot: My favorite summer vacation spot is Cabo.  The weather is perfect nearly year-round, the hotels are beautiful, and there is absolutely no reason to leave the pool.  Life is perfect when you can swim to the bar, eat lunch and make friends with the bartender because you're the only white girl there that can speak Spanish.

Meet Cindy!

Her Blog: The Wooden Roller Coaster
Favorite Blog Post: Imaginary Adventures
Favorite Summer Spot:  I don't have anyone place I go to regularly, but the best vacation I have ever taken was a trip to Eleuthera, Bahamas. It was very rugged. There wasn't any resort  to stay at and no pools to swim in, instead it was just a simple rental home with the whole Caribbean to use as our pool. It was untouched by big businesses and had beautiful calm azure waters. It was the most relaxing vacation I've gone on. I wish I could afford to go back!

Meet Jules!

How to Follow Me

Now that I have this fancy smancy blog, you need to know how to follow me.  I mean, you don't want to miss out on all the words of wisdom I provide.  There are three ways that I like following blogs and I suggest you try them.  To follow me of course.  And if you want to check out other blogs too, that's cool.  But me first, because it's all about me.

1. Subscribe By Email

This is my favorite way to read blogs.  I never miss a post of my favorite blogs because each post is delivered straight to my email inbox.  You can choose as many or as little blogs you want to subscribe to each day.

So you want to subscribe to my blog by email?  GREAT!  Here's how:

From any page of my blog, click "subscribe" on my sidebar. It will take you to a page that looks like this:

Click "Get Bad Luck Jenn delivered by email".  BOOM!

Don't do email?  Rather have a cute little app?  I got your back!

2. BlogLovin'

You can hang out on BlogLovin' on the website or through its neat app. You can follow as many or as little blogs that you want. I can spend spend hours on there!  You can even leave comments without ever leaving the BlogLovin' app.

What's great about it?  You don't have to be a blogger to use this app.  You can even link it to your Facebook.

Now that I have you totally intrigued about BlogLovin', how are you going to follow me?  Here's how:

Click here or that little cute B on the top of my blog page, or because I like options:

Click that button that says "BlogLovin".  Creative, right?  Once you do...

Click "follow".  Easy, right?!

And if you I haven't given you a good enough way to follow me then you're just too damn picky, lemme give you one more.

3. Twitter

Now this should be your last option.  Why?  Because you're very likely to miss one of of my posts this way unless you are constantly glued to your social media.  And missing one of my posts is just unacceptable.

But twitter is a great way to get reminders to read my posts from none other than myself.  I also try to post random thought throughout the week.  But I make no guarantees that I have any idea what's going on with Twitter, because I seriously don't understand it.

That being said, here's how to follow me on twitter:

Click here or the little birdie on my blog page then:

 Click "follow", duh.

So there you have it guys.  Three awesome ways to follow me or any other blog.  I love my readers!  I reply to every.single.comment (as long as you're not a no-reply commenter - Thanks Sarah for breaking that down for everyone!)

I'm Exciting

So it's that horrible time of the week again.... Monday.  And it's time for a recap of my weekend. I'm going to warn you now, I'm super exciting.

My main goal this weekend was to clean out my refrigerator.  You see, my fridge is where leftovers go to die.  I will cook then think, "yeah, I will totally eat that tomorrow for lunch at work." Then I won't.  Because I don't feel like eating it again.  So the food stays in my fridge FOREVER. Or until I get the courage to clean it out.

I was totally going to clean it Saturday, but DirecTV was offering free Showtime this weekend and I watched this instead....

Then decided to pay-per-view this because I was too lazy to go to the RedBox...

Of course I had to watch both parts! Don't judge me. And I ate this while I watched them...

I finally cleaned out my fridge (yay!) and survived (yay!). I don't know what smelled worse, the month week old food, or the dead bunny that had been sitting in the garbage in the Alabama heat for a few days. YUCK. Shout out to Meg for checking on me via Twitter!

If you can't tell, that's the before & after pictures of my fridge.  And after I even went grocery shopping.  Yeah I live like a bachelor. But I did find these...

I felt like I had a golden ticket to Willie Wonka's chocolate factory!  Put some chocolate and peanut butter together and call it breakfast food and I'm game!

I also blogged. Bobby was featured on my blog and I finally wrote my Liebster blog post

But yup, that's about it.  I'm exciting, I know.  Linking up with Sami & Bre.

Love & Liebster

I was recently nominated for the Liebster Award by Casey from Aslan's Auspicious Albany Adventure. And Tami at Friday Morning Buzz. And Cindy at The Wooden Roller Coaster. And Adriana at Dog Hair is an Accessory.  Annnnnnd Ashley at Track Suit Friday.

I am loved. Or either I'm just the only person with under 200 followers these days that hasn't done their Liebster post yet. Either way, I'm more than flattered!

I think most bloggers know what this Liebster thing is all about, but for those of you who are new here or just stalk read, here's what I know about it. Only bloggers with less than 200 followers (check!) can be nominated. This basically encourages and helps discover small and new (check!) bloggers

Once you are nominated, here are the rules:
  • Link back to person who nominated you
  • List 11 10 facts about yourself
  • Nominate up to 11 new bloggers with less than 200 followers (and notify them)
  • Ask your nominees 11 10 questions

Some facts about me...
1. I hate odd numbers. I can't even let my volume stay on an odd number. Especially prime numbers. So yeah, this post is totally freaking me out. Soooo... I think we will change it to 10.

2. I'm terrified of cockroaches... aka roachbugs. Eeeeek!

3. I squeeze the toothpaste from the middle-to-top of the tube. And it infuriates Bobby who thinks toothpaste should be squeezed from the bottom.

4. I don't like coffee or wine. I'm sure most of you have stopped reading now! I will make it up to you some other way, I promise!!

5. I actually can't drink - one of the medications I take doesn't mix well with alcohol and I'd rather stay alive, ya kno? So everyone drink some wine for me!

6. I'm allergic to cats. I don't welp up or anything, but get horrid headaches and sneeze. I guess I will just stick with being the crazy dog lady.

7. I fell in love with painting last year on my birthday at one of those sips & strokes type places (while I drank sweet tea). I've GOT to find the time to paint my next work of art!

8.  I've always lived in Alabama. But I'm moving to Indiana in August!! Eeeek! (If you don't know why, catch up here slacker)

9. I'm actually a big nerd. I graduated salutatorian of my high school & magna cum laude in college. I would've just died if I ever made a "C" in any of my classes!

10. I have four tattoos and want a ton more.  Ink is very addicting!

Casey's Questions...
1. If you had all of the money in the world for any hobby, what would it be? Painting, photography, scrapbooking... why choose just one?!

    The Bob Behind my Blog {June}

If you haven't heard me talk about Bobby before now, well you just haven't been reading my blog!  He is an everyday part of my life.   So when I saw this link-up, I thought, "gee-golly, this is awesome!"

Bobby?  Not so much.  I mean his face in the picture above pretty much explains his feelings towards answering these questions for my blog once a month. But he knows how much I love blogging and how much it means to me, so he played nice and participated.... this time.
    1. Does your wife/girlfriend/fiance use your real name or a nickname on her blog?
You do use my name.  Not my full name though, I don't think.

As well as B, Bob, Bobbino...

    2. If you had a blog, what would the title be?
    I wouldn't have a blog.

He barely uses social media.  I always try to get him to show me "facebook love" (ex: My girlfriend @so-and-so is amazing! She just cooked me dinner! I love you baby!), but he refuses.  But he did give me twitter love this year for Valentine's day!  <3

    3. Do you ever feel ignored by her because of the blog?

    REAL convincing there babe.

    4. How has her blog changed or evolved throughout your relationship?
Too early to tell. Besides the layout you spent money on.

Backstory: Bobby thinks blogging should be a FREE hobby.  The website is free, the layout is free.  So he thought it was ridiculous for me to spend any money on a .com or a layout.  But it's my money! So nah!

    5. What is your favorite post on her blog?
    I guess the sports one.

He refuses to subscribe to my blog (by email of course), but he DOES read my blog (or I read it to him, ha) So he is referring to this post that I linked up with Sarah's Fan Friday.
So there you have it guys!  I'm sure you feel like you know him so much better now because he just goes on and on!  Maybe if everyone leaves a comment letting him know how much you wanna see him back next month, he will play nice again.  Let's try it!

    Linking up with these ladies:

    *drumroll please*

    Congrats Breanna!

    My Dogs Are Murderers

This post contains gruesome pictures that will haunt you in your sleep.
Don't let them fool you.  These furry four-legged things are cold-blooded murderers!

It's just a beautiful sunshiney day and my alarm goes off and I'm attempting to crawl out of bed and I glanced over at the dog bed and in the dark there looks like a pile of shit sitting on it.  DAMN DOGS.

But wait, if someone pooped in the house, I would've smelled it.  Especially that close to my bed.  So I investigate further.

What.the.fuck.  This is what I find.

    June 19, 2013

    Murphy, we're through.

As I mentioned here, I was going to have a busy week last week working, going to doctor's appointments, and getting things done for grad school. Which really meant giving up my blood, sweat, and tears... literally.

I started my week off going to the good ole girly doctor. Every girl's favorite pasttime. While I know it's a necessity to make sure all plumbing and essentials are working properly, getting half-naked in front of total strangers & being violated is just not my idea of a good time...maybe when I was younger.

This was my first visit with a new doctor, so I had signed a release last week to get the medical records from my last doctor... but they didn't have them yet. Apparently the number to my old doctor had been disconnected. Hmm, that's strange.

So I decided I would just drive by on the way to work to get my copies (I'm trying to collect all my records anyway since I'm moving soon). Well, some other doctor was in the building. I walked in and the receptionist said my doctor had JUST LEFT. And took all her medical records with her! Strike one.

Then I went to one of the Vanderbilt walk-in clinic to get a physical for grad school. I really don't know when grad school started wanting blood, urine, and every immunization known to man, but needless to say, the visit was thorough.

Right after I got in the room and saw the nurse, I got a weather alert on my phone for a tornado warning. I'm safe in a secure building, I'm not freaked out, possibly because I have  no idea where this possible tornado is. I heard a nurse in the hallway on the phone YELL say, "Its not a watch? Okay, everyone we gotta go! We are under a tornado warning!"

Imma thinking she was a little freaked out.

Then I was thinking, hmm, am I just going to get to hang out in this room while they all run to safety? They eventually gathered all of us in a supply room including everyone in the waiting area and all the doctors. Because of the nurse's yelling, a 9 year old start crying because she was scared. Another lady was freaking out because she was claustrophobic. The warning didn't expire for omg 20 minutes and I'm locked up in here with all these crazies. Strike two.

But the warning eventually ended, and after a TB test, 2 unsuccessful blood draw attempts (strike three and four), 1 successful one,  and a tDap shot, I left with 5 band-aids across my arms. I'm pretty sure the folks in the waiting area contemplated leaving when they saw the results of my torture-fest.

Also needed for school is a background check and drug screen. My background check has been completed and luckily I'm not a sex offender or have any local, federal or healthcare crimes. Yay!

So then I'm like, just a drug test before Bonnaroo and I'm done!  But like a complete idiot, I made my rheumatology appointment right before and PEED AT THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE before I went to the  lab.  Strike 1,258.  So when I got to the lab and they were all like, you need to wash your hands and dry them in the hallway and pee on this blue water and fill up this gallon jug fill this cup but don't flush or wash your hands again, I knew I was never going to have enough pee.

No surprise, I didn't have enough pee. They let me drink water and sit in the waiting room for 30 minutes after closing and try again. But even after drinking so much water I could've vomited 5 cups of water, I still didn't have enough! Shit. Damn. Fuck.

So I just went to Popeye's for dinner, got a sweet tea, and headed to work. And peed all damn night.

Moral of the story?  Sweet tea makes you pee.
