I hope that you and your family enjoy your (paid) holiday and stay safe! And always remember the reason for the holiday!
To help keep your pets safe on the Fourth, here are a few tips:
1. Do not use fireworks around your pets. Not only are they ridiculously loud and they are probably terrified of them anyway, fireworks contain toxic chemicals. Plus furry pets usually don't have their hair pulled back in a pony so you don't want to burn their luscious locks!
2. Do not use sunblock & insect repellants made for humans on your pets. Hopefully it already says it wasn't tested on animals, but these chemicals can get ingested by your pets licking
3. Do not let your pets drink alcohol. Like you would share! Pets can't handle their liquor like humans and alcohol can be toxic.
4. Do not feed your pets too much human food. You know your pet's diet and what you usually feed them. Any major changes in diet can cause vomitting and nausea. Remember the foods that are toxic to dogs such as onions, grapes, raisins, and coffee. I would recommend saving your dogs those rib bones, but NEVER feed a dog chicken bones! Click here for a complete list of toxic foods.
5. Watch your pets. Simple. If you have a ton of people over, make sure they can't run out the front door. If your pets are terrified of loud noises, make sure they have a safe and secure place to hide out.
